Cache is the product of InterSystems, from Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is a superset in that they have numerous extensions beyond the ANSI Standards. It is the implementation used by the Indian Health Service and the Veterans' Administration and the DoD (for Inpatient).

Digital Equipment Corporation's DSM begat Intersystems Corporation's M/11, which begat M/11+, which begat M/SQL, which begat OpenM, which was then heavily influenced by Datatree MUMPS (DTM) and begat Cache. As far as I can tell Ensemble is the same language as Cache but with HL7 interfacing technologies folded in, which is not a bad idea.
