Sorry about the delay in getting back to this. Here is a reference to clock_nanosleep in POSIX.1

I am still unclear as to what guarantees we are making in the standard here. For example, nano sleep can fail if it is interrupted, and the interval may be rounded up depending on the granularity of the specified clock. I'm a big fan of high resolution timestamps (for example, in measuring execution time), but am less convinced of the utility of millisecond HANG. Can/should support for this feature be made optional.

From the OX/X man page:

The nanosleep() function causes the calling thread to sleep for the amount of time specified in rqtp (the actual time slept may be longer, due to system latencies and possible limitations in the timer resolution of the hardware).
