Hello @ all, I am new to MUMPS... I am an IT Specialist and I previously worked for DOD at a US Army hospital in Europe. We used CHCS / AHLTA in DOD. I currently am Working for the VA as the VistA Imaging Coordinator. I deal alot with HL7 and Cache and run many reports in VistA. I would like to learn more about MUMPS and searching the net I ran across this site... Maybe my perspective as a beginner can contribute something useful. |

Steve, Welcome to mumpster.org, I expect that your newbie perspective will help us recognize which buzzwords and jargon we use needs to be defined in a glossary section. You said you worked with CHCS and AHLTA. Did you use the terminal (text based interface) or did you use the web interface for CHCS ? I (many years ago) worked at SAIC with CHCS I. There were some radically different things that were part of that system, and some things that were radical, but just didn't help the clincal user. That experience comes to my mind when I think about how powerful it is to have the people who use a system sitting near a programmer guiding them in the process of providing medical care. David |

David, Thanks for the welcome...I would be happy to help where I can. We used mostly the terminal... we were lucky we had a SAIC employee in our office in the IT department. He was able to give us alot of pointers in interphasing medical devices with CHCS through out the hospital. Steve |
