I'm a fifty year old commercial photographer living in a small city in Missouri. So what am I doing here? Well, for seventeen years I was a programmer with the University of Missouri's College of Veterinary Medicine, and for most of that time we had a Hospital Information System that was written in-house in MUMPS. I started with that in 1991, and quickly got involved with the MUMPS Development Committee, because I'm a standards geek. :geek: After a while I ended up chairing one of the subcommittees, and then eventually chairing the MDC itself. :ugeek: Then it folded. I swear, it wasn't (entirely) my fault!

Anyway, these days I mostly do commercial and fine art photography, play my tuba and do some writing. I'm on the board of the Vista Expertise Network, too, and am keeping my hand in the ongoing discussions and efforts to revive the MUMPS standards. What can I say, once you're infected with MUMPS there is cure! :D

Welcome to Mumpster! You should tell people about the work you did on putting a web interface on Fileman at the college. You also should tell people about your object-oriented system MOO-COW.

Art has many bona fides and accomplishments that he likes to downplay, but he didn't become chair of the MDC by accident. And it wasn't entirely because I stepped back faster than he did when we were asked - although that was a factor. The man knows his MUMPS and has done some great work that should be better known.

Also, his knowledge of Robert's Rules of Order is spectacular.
