Hello Mumpsters

Im 39 years old . My first Job with MUMPS 1991 on Mictonetics Standard Mumps (PC-DOS) . In 1998 we (my little progr.group) migrated some MSM system to InterSystems CACHE (ver. 3.1 , 4.1 , 5 , 2009.1 , DeepSee BI) and make a VAR contract for Intersystems . In today we changing to Open Source platform , change the Microsoft OS to Unix/Linux , CACHE to back Open/free MUMPS . Intersystems support some other embeded programing language (Java , Zen , ...) but the base M(ObjectScript) function dont append in future ... New way of develop is a web based/visual utils , but industrial-microfunction do to legacy support ...
So , now we re-migrate from CACHE to MUMPS all utils (Event/Form based application generator system : same routine show on diferent mode Teminal/Win32-Gnome graphic/Web runtime mode)
The Win32/Gnome graphical runtime program original developed on Delphi7 , now rewriting on Lazarus (OpenObjectPascal on Windows/Linux/MAC)

This CaIS (Event/Form based Application Generator & Form designer) writed in MUMPS , will be avialable on SourceForge.net in future (with MUMPS source)....

Forever MUMPS

Josef

Hello Josef,
Welcome to MUMPSter!
I'm sorry you hadn't been greeted yet. It will be very interesting to see what is happening in Europe with regard to MUMPS and MUMPS related systems. What Open Source MUMPS did you migrate into ?
I think you are doing some exciting stuff and I think all of us would be interested about the path you are taking.

Best Regards,
David

Hello David

The MUMPS V1 is better Open MUMPS version/distribution . Little , but robust and fast ....
Im now write in MUMPS a OLE/ActiveX IP super server (ex.: port=1972) , same like as CACHE-ActiveX . Every routine will runing on Window runtime applet , on Client side use a special (Delphi Application) windows runtime management software .
Other runing environment is a web based , use a standard %WWW utility . Im now testing a special HTML document and JavaScript on standard browser (Firefox,IE) and mobilphone (BlackBerry Browser , OperaMini) . (The MUMPS V1 routine show on BlackBerry mobilephone is perfect !)
If make a event handler MUMPS routine(application) , available a 3 runing environment :
1. Standard terminal SSH/TelNet/Serial...
2. IPSuperServer (ex.:port=1972) OLE/ActiveX , Ubuntu/MS-Windows runtime module
3. WebServer , %WWW , special HTML page generator (JavaScript) on Browser(PC,PDA,...)

Hello Flavio

The IPServer on 1972 port is a special high-speed communication with MUMPS V1 server , available call routine/function and manipulation with MUMPS globals . This only same like as AxtiveX control ex.: on CACHE .
We now working with GambasII on Unix/Linux , this is a Free VisualBasic RAD- graphical object IDE . The MUMPS V1 IPServer (%CaIPSRV) can use this MUMPS IP function with GambasII gb.net.sockets objects . But Gambas not a MS-Visual Basic on Unix , only same like as MS-VB. Gambas BASIC application runing on MS-Windows , need install a "NoMachine NX client" on MS-Windows side .
Please try the GambasII (Free VisualBasic-IDE) , practical and very-very good ...

Thanks for the reply Mr.Nagy,

I'm looking for the Linux version of Gambas
and is really very interesting, you're right.
After that I discovered that I don't need
Windows.

But what about the server mumps routines?
Mr.Nagy will share or sell them to us?

Cheers.

Hi Flavio

Please open this public/share site : http://www.cais-system.com/MUMPS
This will be a "BOX" of MV1 utilities in future .
..and download all file from IPSuperServer_1972 subdirectory
* MV1 server job : %CaIPSRV , run J ^%CaIPSRV
* IPServer documentation PDF
* Gambas example , for testing MV1 direct IP socket

If Im finish the actual project (eHealtCare software in Gambas) , then will be share the all source (MUMPS and Gambas) on this site . This software is full userfriend visual(Gam..) BASIC program .

..And YES : "After that You discovered that You DON'T need Windows."
If interest : Very good choice a realy UNIX platform = PCBSC (base 100%freeBSD , this is a MV1 base platform , Gambas support OK .. but PCBSD req:2GBRAM , 14GB HDD only install )
