John Willis and David Wicksell have agreed to create the initial homepage. We're modeling it for now after typophile.com's front page, only more static for now. We'll have menu items across the top, starting with Forums, Wiki, MUMPS V1, and Resources as the initial menu items.

The main page will say something like Welcome to the MUMPS Users Group website, a resource for MUMPS programmers worldwide.

Near the bottom we should thank Ray Newman for donating the domain name mumps.org for use by the MUMPS Users Group.

At the bottom we should include a copyright notice.

What should the text be for the copyright notice?

Try the copyright text and images from the bottom of my VISTA Expertise Weblog:

http://vistaexpertise.blogspot.com/

Except that we should change it from being copyright by me to each post being copyright its author, i.e., everyone retains rights to their own words. If anyone has a problem with the Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 United States License we can revisit this.

I have uploaded an initial pass at the design to DreamHost in the mumps.org directory.
It can be previewed on my company's web server at http://www.coherent-logic.com/~mumps/

Thanks much,
jollis

Kathy and Linda say they like the green of Mumpster better than that at the proposed mumps.org. Can you shift the color that way?

They also say they'd like to be able to click on the pictures as well as the text below. Can you make that change?

Otherwise, so far it's all been positive comments around the office. A lovely beginning. Thank you, sir.

Excellent! Will make the color changes this afternoon; the clicking issue has been resolved on my server, will push those changes to castries this evening along with the color changes, and a logo modified to say "MUMPS User's Group" instead of "MUMPS User Group"

Thanks much,

New version of the mumps.org site has been uploaded to castries.

* The "Resources" link now loads a stub HTML page fragment via Ajax.
* The MUMPSV1 link now points to http://mv1.mumps.org/
* Icons as well as the text beneath them are now clickable.
* The version on castries now has the centered layout for the header bar
from the version on coherent-logic.com.
* Added js/mug_ajax.js, which is a tiny Ajax framework for this site.

FWIW, the development version on coherent-logic.com now has a
Makefile which is used to package it up into a tarball to be prepared
for distribution.

Thanks much,

Hi,

I just looked at the mumps.org page again. It looks like at least for my browser (Safari on Mac OS X) the changes haven't come through (and I did empty my cache just in case). Also, the mv1.mumps.org page seems to be broken.

And, lastly, something weird. If I click on one of the links and then hit the back button, it totally skips over the mumps.org page to whatever I had on that tab before I went to the home page. It shows up in the history, but not the back button menu.

Thanks!
