Job Title: Database Group/DBA Program Manager
Department: Development
Reports To: Vice President, Development

Manage and architect table schema, stored procedures, scripts, and other business logic in an extensive, established database tier that supports several enterprise applications for the medical laboratory and healthcare industry.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.

•Work directly with Development to develop schema and business logic in the database tier for new application features
•Work directly with Development to verify and validate performance and accuracy of existing and newly developed features
•Work directly with Support and Client Services to create and manage scripts to report and manipulate system data, and to develop tools and processes to monitor system health
•Work directly with QA to establish manual and programmatic test cases to validate the performance and accuracy of system features
•Evolve the database tier to take advantage of features in new releases of InterSystems products, particularly to improve performance and scalability
•Evolve existing features of the database tier to improve maintainability, performance, scalability, and supportability
•Assist to evolve the process of the Software Development Life Cycle across the Development teams utilizing the common platform managed by the DBA
•Responsible for identifying and implementing system health checks and other monitoring tools in order to ensure integrity and system performance.
•Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position directly supervises a team of Developers. Responsible for the selection of qualified Developer candidates, conducting performance appraisals, ensuring training and development of staff, mentoring, coaching and counseling team members. Also responsible for documenting expectations including performance improvement plans.

Education and / or Experience
•BS degree or the equivalent experience
•5+ years of experience in database development
•Strong experience with InterSystems products, especially Cache and MUMPS
•Cache Objects and Ensemble experience is a plus
•InterSystems certification is a plus

Language Skills
The position requires excellent English written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills and the ability to comprehend and communicate technical information precisely and unambiguously.

Mathematical Skills
Must be able to analyze and present quantitative data. The candidate should be able to compute basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, division, and percentages.

Reasoning Ability
The candidate should be able to analyze and interpret data relating to various projects and resolve issues and problems that arise.
